Search Help Page
Search
Database - Use this button if you would like to search
only the GrainGenes MySQL database. This is a general search that will
return data associated with the general classes presented by the GrainGenes
Database Browser.
Search Website - Use this button to search only the web pages that compose the GrainGenes website. No data from the database will be presented in the results. Basic - type in the word(s) for which you would like to search. Wildcard characters are not assumed in searches so partial words should not be used. Example: "data" will return "data"
NOT "database"
Wild Card - use * as the wildcard character for searches. Allows for an expanded search using fewer characters. Example:
"data*" will return "data" AND "database"
Boolean - returns pages based on the Boolean operators used in the search field (e.g. "AND", "OR", "NOT") Examples of correct expressions are: cat
and dog, cat not dog, cat or (dog not nose).
Note that the operator not has the meaning of 'without'. GrainGenes Search Page This page presents the results obtained
by pressing either the "Search Database" or "Search Website" buttons.
The results page inlcudes an additional search field that includes more
query options. This search form will only search the area selected by
the previously used search button. This is not a refine search but a
new search of all available documents.
Limit Search to: Body and Title - searches the body and title of all documents for matches Just Title - searches only the title of all documents for matches |
