Detailed Progress

Progress on cDNA Library Production

  1. Total number of Project cDNA libraries sent to Albany, CA for sequencing is currently at 47, 28 from Tim Close's lab, 8 normalized and subtracted libraries from Henry Nguyen's lab, and 11 others as contribution to the NSF project.
  2. A list of cDNA libraries generated and to be generated at Tim Close's lab can be found in this table.
  3. For a complete list of Project cDNA libraries and detailed description of each libraries, go to cDNA Libraries.

Progress on Wheat EST Generation

  1. Total number of processed 5' wheat ESTs generated at Albany, CA is shown in the following table.

  2. EST SourceNumber
    NSF Wheat EST Project90,016
    USDA ARS Endosperm EST project5,183
    ITEC ESTs9,647
    Total EST Produced in Albany104,846

  3. Current progress on number of wheat ESTs generated from each cDNA libraries can be found at cDNA libraries page. The average EST read length for each cDNA libraries is shown in the histogram below.

  4. All the EST data are publicly available and can be accessed and downloaded from Wheat EST data page.
  5. Information on EST assembly is available at Wheat EST Assembly page. A summarized table with number of contigs and unassembled ESTs within each library, and number of ESTs unique to each library after global phrap analysis can be found in the Library Redundancy table

Progress on Deletion Mapping

Current progress on deletion mapping can be found in the Mapping Progress table. The status of mapping activity in each mapping lab can be accessed here. The thermometer indicator below indicates the total number of ESTs mapped to date. For detailed information on deletion lines, mapping probes and mapping results, go to Mapping Data

Progress on Bioinformatics Activity

  1. The activity log of the Project's bioinformatics programmer can be found here.
  2. Wheat EST Database development - Users can choose different query methods to access information on EST data, their BLAST hits, contig assembly results and deletion mapping data generated in the project so far.
    1. The Triticeae EST Database, an ACEDB based.
    2. The wEST-SQL database, a MySQL based relational database.
  3. Please also visit wEST for more information on database development and useful links.
