| Mapping was done on 64 deletion lines produced in Chinese Spring using the gametocidal chromosome of Aegilops cylindrica. Group 5A deletion lines included 14 for the short arm and 20 for the long arm. Group 5B deletion lines included 10 for the short arm and 9 for the long arm. Group 5D deletion lines included 6 for the short arm and 5 for the long arm. |
| Southern blots of the deletion lines provided physical map placement of the markers. Markers with known positions on the rice genome were also used revealing regions of synteny between wheat and rice. The entire rice chromosome 9 is syntenous to a region on the long arm of Group 5, and segments of rice chromosome 3, 11 and 12 also showed conserved synteny. See the records for breakpoint_intervals for more detailed account of rice synteny. |
