wheat mitochondria (0.25 mg/ml) were suspended in a reaction
medium and swelling was initiated by FFA addition. The difference
in optical density was calculated by the formula: dOD =
(ODt0 ODt1), where
ODt0 = initial optical density and
ODt1 = optical density after given time of incubation. Traces:
mitochondria without the addition of any FFA (a) and after the addition of
10 mkM FFA (b), 50 mkM FFA (c), 100 mkM FFA (c) and 500
mkM FFA (e). Results are represented as the mean of at least
three determinations/experiment.
