In order to better reflect the homology relationships between the barley and maize HIR genes, we have changed the designation of the previous barley gene Hv-hir2 to Hv-hir3 and the Hv-hir3 to Hv-hir2.

In addition, the nucleotide sequences of HIR gene cDNAs and genomic sequences are now available in the GenBank at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/.
