Postdoctoral Research Fellow
DEPARTMENT: Plant Sciences CLOSING DATE: 3/18/06 or until filled SALARY: $32,000+ depending on qualifications DESCRIPTION: Research Associate/Postdoctoral scientists in the Department of Plant Sciences, North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND. Seeking two postdoctoral scientists to conduct research on breeding, molecular genetic dissection and marker-assisted transfer of several traits in durum and bread wheat varieties adapted to North Dakota. This is part of multidisciplinary research projects seeking to use conventional techniques of plant genetics and breeding and contemporary techniques of molecular mapping to identify genes (QTLs) controlling resistance to FHB, and other traits of interest and incorporate them into varieties. Seeking postdoctoral researchers with experience in molecular mapping and QTL analysis, breeding/marker assisted selection and a strong publication record. Continued employment contingent on satisfactory job performance and funding. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Both positions require Ph.D. in genetics, plant breeding, or related discipline. Applicants must have experience in molecular marker techniques, statistical analysis (e.g., SAS or similar software) of quantitative data, ability to communicate effectively in English both writing research publications and spoken language, to manage information, and to work in a team oriented environment. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in plant pathology and disease phenotyping both under field and greenhouse conditions is highly desirable. TO APPLY: For full
