Seed Pathologist Iowa State University Plant Pathology and Seed Science Center Job Description: The Department of Plant Pathology and the Seed Science Center at Iowa State University are seeking to fill a faculty position in Seed Pathology at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. The successful candidate will join one of the world's foremost centers for seed research and a highly interdisciplinary group of researchers studying all aspects of seed science, as well as a diverse and internationally prominent group of plant pathologists. The incumbent will be expected to develop a vigorous, externally funded, independent research program that will advance the discipline of seed pathology, as well as work with the seed industry and other national/international programs. Candidates may utilize a wide range of research approaches, from applied to basic, to address questions about diseases affecting seeds on any crop species. The position will be a full-time, 9-month appointment with 80% research and 20% teaching responsibilities. Teaching includes one graduate-level course in seed pathology and participation in an undergraduate course in the candidate's area of interest. Required Qualifications: Candidates must have a PhD or comparable terminal degree in plant pathology or a closely related field and excellent written and oral communication skills. Candidates at the Associate or Full Professor levels must have a demonstrated record of excellence in research, teaching, and graduate training.
