Description: Analysis of QTL-mapping and other data in several rice crosses for a multi-institutional project (http://www.uark.edu/ua/ricecap/) investigating the genetic basis for complex traits of economic importance to U.S. rice production. The appointee will perform analysis, synthesis, interpretation, and reporting of results with reference to the literature and in cooperation with domain experts, and will assist in preparing data for insertion into public databases. Qualifications: Required: Ph.D. in a relevant biological or analytical science. Training in molecular and quantitative genetics, statistics; good oral and written communication skills. Preferred: Experience with genetic mapping and QTL analysis; facility in one or more programming languages such as Perl, R, or MATLAB; basic bioinformatics knowledge (sequence manipulation, expression data analysis, genomics). Terms: Appointment for one year, renewable up to three years. Salary competitive and commensurate with skills; benefits. Starting date: The position is available immediately.
