POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

TITLE: POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE - Wheat molecular breeding

LOCATIONS: Based primarily at the Texas A & M University Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Amarillo with active collaboration with other research centers and the main campus of the Texas A&M University at College Station.

DESCRIPTION: An academic professional, 12-month full-time postdoc research associate position is available immediately. This position is available for three years with subsequent years contingent upon funding and performance. The successful candidate will work with the marker assisted selection project of the Texas Wheat Improvement Program to implement molecular breeding strategies for wheat breeding.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The candidate will be responsible for phenotyping, genetic mapping and development of molecular markers for agronomically important genes; developing molecular marker-assisted selection strategies in wheat breeding, and publication of results in peer-reviewed journals.

QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in plant breeding, genetics or related disciplines. Skilled at standard molecular biology techniques. Demonstrated abilities in experimental design and statistical analysis of data from biological experiments. Effective oral and written communication skills in English. Ability and interest to write research articles, research reports and grant applications. Should have or be able to obtain a valid driver's license.
