Located in Ithaca, New York, near the Cornell University campus, NSG scientists interact with a team of distinguished faculty from Cornell and other major research institutions, to solve problems related to population genetics, computer optimization, statistics and quantitative genetics (including optimization of population structure/design for QTL detection/validation). Education requirements:

• Ph.D. degree in genetics, plant breeding, animal breeding or related discipline with emphasis on population genetics as related to genetic diversity, modern transmission genetics and quantitative trait variation.

Related qualifications:

• Ability to organize and analyze large data sets with appropriate software for estimation of parameters related population genetics and quantitative genetics
• Ability to work in a group setting involving scientists both inside and outside of the company
• Ability to plan, execute and oversee projects involving multiple collaborators/multiple disciplines
• Willingness to travel to attend meetings related to projects
• Ability to prepare scientific manuscripts, reports, proposals and presentations that clearly convey progress and challenges, and coordinate activities leading to related scientific publications, presentations, and patent filings.
