Role purpose


This position will support agronomic trait research for transgenic crops, with emphasis on cell biology and protein biochemistry.  Responsibilities will also include working on multiple technical teams and supporting project needs.  The position requires an in-depth knowledge of protein biochemistry and use of molecular biology. It demands an adaptable and innovative attitude towards applying research skills to product development. A key challenge for the person taking up this role will be to understand how project management works to deliver timely results.

Knowledge, experience & capabilities

Critical knowledge
A Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field is required. Candidates for this position must have broad knowledge of cell culture, toxin-receptor studies and protein-protein interactions.  Knowledge of insect or nematode physiology is a plus. An interest in and knowledge of agricultural biotechnology is necessary in addition to accomplishments in all aspects of protein work.

Critical experience
  • Worked in a team environment
  • Relevant laboratory experience working with transgenic plants and traits is a plus.
Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities
  • Cell culture skills and transient gene expression for receptor studies
  • Molecular biology expertise especially as it applies to cloning and expression of new genes; gene mutagenesis as well as protein analysis
  • Microscope image process and analysis is a plus
  • Excellent troubleshooting, experimental design and data-analysis skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proven ability to publish scientific papers and reports
