Role Purpose
-

Identify target genes and novel non-coding functional elements in crop genome by comparative genomics, transcriptomics, and systems biology approach to leverage genomic information from model plants and crops.

Accountabilities -

Computationally identify functional conserved genes and regulatory elements and modules in crop genomes; design and conduct experiments to test genome-scale hypothesis and validate functions of identified target genes for crop improvement; develop translational genomics platform to integrate and understand biological insights from analysis of structure and function of crop genomes across different taxa.

Knowledge, experience & capabilities -

Ph.D. in biological science, prefer in plant biology; research experience in comparative genomics and/or transcriptomics, evolutionary biology; strong background in genetics and biochemistry; knowledge of computational biology principles. Hand-on experience with relevant bioinformatics methodology and basic programming skills in one or more of the following languages: Perl, Python, Java or C++ preferred.  Excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to work in a team environment is essential.
