Post Doctoral Position
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada

The Cereal Research Centre of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, is anticipating an opening for a post-doctoral fellow under the Visiting Fellowship in a Canadian Government Laboratory program (see http://www.nserc.gc.ca/sf_e.asp?nav=sfnav&lbi=3d for details) starting October 2008.

The fellowship is in the area of statistical genomics and the incumbent would be involved in a project mapping expression level polymorphisms (expression QTLs) in wheat using gene expression data derived from Affymetrix GeneChips as well as other methods to extract marker information from microarray or sequencing data. The position is part of a larger effort to identify wheat components and genomic regions relating to human health. The candidate must have knowledge of quantitative genetics and the statistical basis of QTL analysis and have experience with statistical and QTL mapping software. Experience in the analysis of Affymetrix microarray data is an asset. The candidate will also be expected to co-ordinate the operation of field trials with the CRC wheat breeding team therefore experience in running field trials is also an asset.
