Postdoctoral Position
Kansas State University (Manhattan, KS)

Postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Plant Pathology at Kansas State University (Manhattan, KS). The wheat genomics laboratory is seeking for highly motivated candidate to work on the projects applying genetic and genomic approaches to study the genomes of wheat and its wild relatives. We use genetic and association mapping, expression profiling and comparative genomic analysis to identify genes contributing to agronomically important traits. The candidate will use high-throughput SNP genotyping, microarrays, TILLING and the next generation sequencing technologies to identify and characterize candidate genes and genomic regions. He or she will be involved in development of genomic resources for high-throughput SNP genotyping in wheat and for studying wheat genome structure and evolution. The candidate will have a chance to interact with vibrant KSU research programs in genetics and genomics of other crop species.

Requirements:
* Ph.D in molecular biology, genetics or other related disciplines with experience in plant genomics and good molecular biology skills.
* The candidate will have an knowledge of experimental techniques and approaches used in molecular biology and genomics including: high-throughput genomics techniques (DNA isolation, sequencing, genotyping and expression analysis), molecular cloning, quantitative PCR and RT-PCR.
* Excellent organizational, written/verbal communication skills and ability to work in multicultural environment.
* Knowledge of Windows and/or Unix based computer programs forthe analysis of genetic and genomic data.
* The basic knowledge of one of the programming languages is desirable (Perl/Java/Python).
* Ability to perform statistical analyses using SAS and/or R packages would be a plus.
