A postdoctoral research associate position is available immediately at the University of Missouri to work on the genetic basis of disease resistance in soybean. The successful candidate will focus on the fine mapping and cloning of QTL controlling Soybean Cyst Nematode (SCN) resistance. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in plant biology, genetics, or a related discipline with experience in plant genomics. The candidate will have an excellent knowledge of experimental techniques and approaches used in plant biology and genomics including high-throughput genomics techniques (DNA isolation, sequencing, genotyping and expression analysis), analysis of gene functions, genome mining and comparative genomics. The candidate will also have access to modern genomic technologies and instrumentation through the National Center for soybean Biotechnology at MU and have a chance to interact with various research programs in the areas of crop genetics and genomics. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative research environment are essential. The initial appointment will be for one year and the reappointment will depend on successful performance. Applications will be considered until a suitable candidate is identified.
