Two post doctoral research associate positions are available immediately at the University of Missouri to work on discovery and characterization of transcription factors towards drought tolerance in soybean. One of the successful candidates will work on functional characterization of transcription factors and metabolic pathways associated with drought tolerance using molecular genetics approaches. The second one will focus on tissue-specific and stress specific promoter analysis and regulatory elements useful for drought tolerance improvement in soybean. The research program includes studies using Arabidopsis and comparative legume genomics. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in plant biology, genetics, biotechnology or a related discipline. The positions requires post doctoral experience and a strong background in transcription factor research and molecular biology techniques such as promoter analysis, cloning, vector construction, quantitative PCR, Y2H, transgenic and mutant analyses. Experience with gene regulation and silencing, biochemical pathways, and biological databases is desirable. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative research environment are essential. Applications will be considered until a suitable candidate is identified. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The initial appointment will be for one year and the reappointment will depend on successful performance. Applicants should provide a letter of interest, a complete CV and arrange for three references to be sent to: Dr. Henry T. Nguyen, Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council Endowed Professor, National Center for Soybean Biotechnology, Division of Plant Sciences, 1-31 Agriculture Building, University of Missouri, Columbia, MO 65211.
