Grad Students, Post-Doctoral Fellows and Research Associates
University of Saskatchewan, SK. Canada

The Department of Plant Sciences at the University of Saskatchewan is seeking Ph.D. candidates and graduates with research interests in plant molecular biology, association mapping, map-based cloning, quantitative / statistical genetics, phenotyping, marker trait associations and bioinformatics for graduate student, post-doctoral and Research Associate positions in the area of wheat genomics. These positions will support a three year $8 million effort to generate the first high quality sequence of chromosome 6D, which will represent Canada's contribution to the international sequencing effort led by the International Wheat Genome Sequencing Consortium (IWGSC). In addition, using sequence capture technology we will perform targeted sequencing of the best available Canadian wheat cultivars. This information will be mined for sequence nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) with input from the International Wheat SNP Working Group (IWSWG). This information will be used in combination with phenotypic data to identify those SNPs which wheat breeders can utilize as selection tools to develop the next generation of wheat cultivars.

The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
