Pioneer Hi-Bred, a DuPont business, is currently seeking a Senior Research Associate in Wilmington, DE. The Senior Research Associate will serve as an integral member of a research team focused on marker discovery efforts in wheat. This person will primarily support the SNP discovery using next generation sequencing, data mining from both in-house and public domains as well as the development of assays for validation of markers. This person will also participate in all phases of execution, data collection, and data analysis of laboratory and field experiments designed to meet research objectives of the group.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Participate in various activities related to wheat marker discovery. Work with cross-functional groups to complete the experiments and meet the goals of the group in a timely manner. Work with the supervisor to develop and implement experimental designs and protocols. Assume responsibility for conducting experiments to identify and validate leads. Compile and analyze experimental data, prepares technical reports and give group presentations. Manage temporary workers to complete experiments and data collection in a timely manner. Follow the safety and record/book keeping rules as per Pioneer's policy.

Qualifications:

Master's degree in plant breeding, molecular biology, genetics or scientific related field and 2-4 years of industry related experience preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in performing routine molecular biology techniques in the laboratory and have a good understanding of next generation sequencing technology. Knowledge of use of molecular marker technologies and previous working experience in wheat genetics is preferred. Excellent writing, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and as a team member. Ability to work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
