JOB TITLES: Research Associate and Post Doctoral Fellow

DEPARTMENT: Department of Plant Sciences, College of Agriculture and Bioresources

APPOINTMENT: 3-year term appointment. This position is supported by a Genome Canada research contract administered by the University of Saskatchewan.

JOB DESCRIPTION: A research associate position is available with the Crop Development Centre to work on the development of wheat genomics tools. This position is part of a three year $8 million effort to generate the first high quality sequence of chromosome 6D, which will represent Canada's contribution to the international sequencing effort led by the International Wheat Genome Sequencing Consortium (IWGSC). In addition, using sequence capture technology we will perform targeted sequencing of the best available Canadian wheat cultivars. This information will be mined for sequence nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) with input from the International Wheat SNP Working Group (IWSWG).

QUALIFICATIONS: The candidate should hold a PhD in Plant Sciences or a related discipline. The candidate should have experience in plant molecular biology, association mapping and map-based cloning. Experience with quantitative / statistical genetics, phenotyping, and marker trait associations or bioinformatics would be an asset.

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
