Postdoctoral fellow-doubled haploid (DH) research

Heartland Plant Innovations, Inc., Manhattan, KS, is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to participate in a research program focused on improving the potential of microspore culture in wheat doubled haploid (DH) production.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing DH lines using microspore culture in a collection of wheat genetic stocks, conducting genetic analysis to identify factors affecting haploid regeneration, and developing a system for highly-efficient induction of green plants in microspore culture over most wheat genotypes.

 

Applicants must:

1) Have an earned Ph.D. degree in plant science, plant genetics, molecular biology, or a closely related discipline;

2) Possess hands-on experience in plant tissue culture;

3) Have data analysis experience including molecular marker analysis, QTL analysis, association mapping, and related techniques;  

4) Have the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team;

5) Have the ability to initiate and accomplish research goals and publish results in refereed scientific journals.

 

Preferred qualification:

Have experience of working on wheat microspore/anther culture in DH production.
