POSITION: Senior molecular genetic specialist

SALARY: Commensurate with experience and education.


DUTIES: Conduct molecular genetics, genomics and breeding research in forage, turf and biofuel grasses. Incumbent will assume major responsibility in managing and collecting data primarily from laboratory experiments and occasionally from field trials. Specific responsibilities include: 1) DNA and RNA isolation; 2) PCR based DNA marker electrophoretic analysis; 3) grass tissue culture; 4) cytogenetic determination of chromosome number and reproductive method; 5) collection, analysis and summarization of data; 6) supervision of hourly wage employees; 7) Management of the lab and 8) Support for graduate and postdoctoral scientist research. Ability to maintain good working relations with supervisory and cooperating scientists and lab members is essential.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

M.S degree in Molecular Genetics, Genomics, Molecular Biology, Breeding or related field, or B.S. degree with 3 years of related laboratory experiences in molecular marker, QTL mapping and tissue culture.
