Post-doctoral Fellow in abiotic stress genomics at the University of Missouri

A post doctoral research associate position is available immediately at the Soybean Genomics and Biotechnology Laboratory (PI: Dr. Henry Nguyen) at the University of Missouri. The successful candidate will work on genetic dissection of abiotic stress tolerance traits in soybean with special emphasis on root system architecture and root plasticity under abiotic stress conditions such as drought and flooding. The successful candidate will utilize QTL analysis, comparative genomics, and next generation sequencing approaches to map and characterize the genes associated with abiotic stress tolerance in soybean. The project goals include the development of markers for breeding applications. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in plant biology, genetics, or a related discipline with strong experience in plant genomics, QTL dissection and marker development. The candidate will have an excellent knowledge of experimental techniques and approaches used in plant biology and genomics including genotyping, expression analysis, and genome mining. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative research environment are essential. The initial appointment will be for one year and the reappointment will depend upon successful performance. Applications will be considered until a suitable candidate is identified. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Applicants should provide a letter of interest, a complete CV, and three reference letters. Please include the following in the subject line:  “PD Application for abiotic stress genomics” and send the above requested information to:
