ACPFG PhD Drought Forward Genetics
Scholarship (open July 2013)
The Australian Centre for Plant
Functional Genomics (ACPFG) is offering
a postgraduate research
scholarship for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
which supports
research into wheat genetics. The goal is to generate
high
yielding wheat varieties that perform under drought conditions,
which
ultimately benefits Australian farmers and contributes to global
food
security. This exciting project also has direct links into
global
industry. The project uses forward genetics, such as fine
mapping and
positional cloning, to identify candidate genes that
control grain yield
QTL in drought conditions. ACPFG seeks a
motivated student, passionate
about plant science with a strong
knowledge of molecular biology and
genetics.
ACPFG,
situated in the attractive city of Adelaide, offers a
world-class
research environment and a chance to integrate into a
vibrant group of
international and local postgraduate research
students.
