Environmental, and Soil Sciences at Louisiana State
University
invites applications for recruitment of two full-time
Ph.D. level
graduate research assistants in a USDA-NIFA funded project
starting
January 2014. The prospective candidates should be highly
motivated
with an interest to work on the interface of plant breeding
and
plant genomics to improve abiotic stress tolerance in rice.
The
candidates will be responsible for conducting field,
greenhouse, and
laboratory experiments, data analysis,
presentation of research results,
completing all coursework
required for a Ph.D. degree, and writing of a
dissertation on the
research topic. Students with training in plant
breeding, SNP
genotyping, QTL mapping, salinity and drought tolerance
screening,
and exposure to rice culture are strongly encouraged to
apply.
