March 2023: SNP World was revamped and is available under the GrainGenes Tools menu

SNPWorld (https://wheat.pw.usda.gov/SNP/new/index.shtml) is an old project. We revamped the project website and made it functional.

This was the information provided on the project website:

The primary goal of the project is to discover and map single nucleotide polymorphisms in tetraploid and hexaploid wheat and develop appropriate bioinformatic tools for public access to this resource. The secondary goal is to employ this resource in preliminary characterization of genetics structure of the genepools of tetraploid and hexaploid wheat and wheat diploid ancestors. This database includes conserved and genome-specific PCR primers for amplification of STSs from genomic DNA of wheat and its diploid and tetraploid ancestors, DNA sequences, sequence annotations, intron/exon predictions, electropherograms, haplotypes, SNPs, and positions of SNP markers on wheat linkage maps. As of May 2006, the database contained 17,174 primers (forward and reverse), 1,102 wheat polymorphic loci, and 2,224 polymorphic sequence tagged sites in diploid ancestors of polyploid wheat.
