Post-doctoral position in computational genomics at the University of Maryland, College Park

A Postdoctoral Scholar position is available in the Tiwari Lab at the University of Maryland, College Park to work on wheat genetics and genomics. The position will focus on developing database and genomic tools for small grain crops. The incumbent will get opportunities to work in a collaborative environment with molecular biologists, data scientists, and plant pathologists in the department and beyond. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational genomics, plant Genomics, molecular biology, plant genetics, or a closely related field at the time of hiring. The applicants who have a strong background in data analysis and skills in plant molecular biology, genomics, and genetic analyses are highly desired.

Required qualifications:
• Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational genomics, molecular plant breeding, or related discipline.
• Expertise with statistical models and applications to genetics and plant breeding.
• Experience in data analysis platforms (R, python, etc), computational infrastructure (cloud computing, Linux environments, databases, etc), and reproducible science (version control, scripting, workflow languages).

Expertise in developing databases will be considered as a preferred qualification. Preference will also be given to candidates with strong publication records and excellent written and oral communication skills. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
