The University of Nebraska-Lincoln small grains breeding program is searching for a postdoc to support hybrid wheat research and pureline development. The posting can be found at https://employment.unl.edu/postings/72969
Key responsibilities: Optimize and deploy statistical tools and DNA marker information for improved prediction of genome estimated breeding values and selection of improved wheat breeding lines with a particular emphasis on advancing research on heterosis, yield gain, hybrid purity, and genetic control of male and female traits in hybrid wheat. Identify and characterize useful germplasm. Utilize quantitative genetics theory to decipher the genetic architecture of hybrid-related traits. Collect and analyze large phenotypic and genotypic data. Deploy genomic prediction models to identify superior genotypes.
Applications will be reviewed beginning June 28 and until a suitable candidate is hired.
