Postdoctoral Researcher/Research Associate in maize/sugarcane at Louisiana State University

Position Description: A Postdoctoral Researcher or Research Associate position is available immediately in the School of Plant, Environmental, and Soil Sciences of the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Continued appointment is contingent upon availability of funds and the researcher’s performance.

Duties and Responsibilities: The researcher will be expected to work independently as well as in a team environment to study (a)biotic stress response of plants at cellular and molecular levels. Duties and responsibilities will include but not limit to designing and preparing constructs for gene editing/genome engineering and developing and characterizing engineered/gene edited lines at physiological, biochemical and whole plant level in greenhouse and/or field conditions. Experience in corn and sugarcane transformation will be a plus. The incumbent will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting the data and publishing the results in appropriate journals.

Qualification and Requirement: Ph.D. or M.S. in plant molecular biology, genetics, botany or related field. Documented experience, evidenced by published papers, in plant molecular biology and genetic engineering/gene editing.
