Position I: Postdoctoral researcher in plant genomics
A full-time postdoctoral researcher position is available in the Department of Plant Sciences, University of California, Davis. As a member of a team, the researcher will have the opportunity to generate and analyze large volume and diverse datasets, including DNA sequences and optical maps, to address specific biological questions and will be responsible for processing, analyzing, and archiving large-scale genomic data sets, assessing data quality, conducting analyses, interpreting findings, and communicating findings to others.
Requirements: PhD in genetics, plant biology, computational biology or related fields; familiarity with standard molecular technique, DNA sequence analysis using bioinformatics tools. Experience with handling large data sets is a plus.
Position II: Postdoctoral researcher in plant genetics
A full-time postdoctoral researcher position is available in the Department of Plant Sciences, University of California, Davis. The incumbent will be involved in collaborative research projects between UC Davis and USDA-ARS and will be housed in Albany, CA. The projects aim to improve wheat agronomic traits and grain quality using genetics, molecular biology and genomic approaches. The incumbent will be responsible for population development, gene/QTL discovery via linkage and association mapping, marker development, marker-assisted selection, transcriptome and next-generation-sequence data analysis.
Requirements: PhD in plant genetics, plant biology or a related field and a demonstrated expertise in the use of genetics and molecular techniques in plants. A strong background knowledge in statistics is a plus.
Both positions are available immediately until filled. Salary is commensurate with experience and the benefits are covered under the university’s policy (http://gradstudies.ucdavis.edu/postdocs/benefits.html).
How to apply: Please send application as a single PDF file containing (1) a cover letter summarizing research interests, (2) a curriculum vitae, and (3) names and contact information for three references to Dr. Ming-Cheng Luo (mcluo@ucdavis.edu).
