The USDA, Agricultural Research Service, Sunflower and Plant Biology Unit in Fargo, North Dakota, is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate (Research Plant Geneticist, Series & Grade: GS-0401-11, Salary: $61,218 per annum plus benefits) for a two-year appointment. This position requires a recent (within the last 4 years) Ph.D in plant genetics or a related field and is restricted to U.S. citizens and permanent residents seeking U.S. citizenship.
The incumbent will conduct research on map-based cloning of a gene for resistance to downy mildew in sunflower. Major duties include handling large genome-scale sequence data, screening an ethyl methanesulfonate-induced mutant population of sunflower line, sequencing the target region for identifying the gene candidate, developing molecular markers, analyzing data, and publishing research results.
