East: Raleigh, North Carolina

  • The Raleigh lab is part of the USDA ARS Plant Science Research Unit.

  • Collaborations have been established with breeding programs in the Eastern region including Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Missouri, Louisiana, and Arkansas.

  • The crops covered by the Raleigh lab include soft red and white winter wheat, six-row winter barley and spring oats.

North Central:  Fargo, North Dakota

  • The Fargo lab is part of the USDA ARS Cereal Crops Research Unit.

  • Collaborations have been established with breeding programs in the Northern Plains region including North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota.

  • The crops covered by the Fargo lab include six- and two-rowed barley, spring oat, durum, hard red spring, and hard red winter wheat.

Central:  Manhattan, Kansas

  • The Manhattan lab is part of the USDA ARS Plant Science and Entomology Research Unit of the Grain Marketing Production Research Center in Manhattan, KS.

  • Collaborations have been established with public breeding programs in the Southern Plains region including Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas.

  • The crops covered by the Manhattan lab include hard winter wheat, spring and winter oat and winter barley.

West:  Pullman, Washington

  • The Pullman lab is part of the USDA ARS Wheat Genetics, Quality, Physiology and Disease Resistance Unit at Pullman, WA.

  • Collaborations have been established with public small grains breeding programs in Western and Pacific Northwest region including California, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah and Washington, as well as other states including Arizona, New Mexico and Wyoming.

  • The crops covered by the Pullman lab include hard and soft winter wheat, hard and soft spring wheat, club wheat, spring barley and winter malting barley.
