Comment
In addition to conferring seedling and adult plant resistance, Lr34 responds in a complementary manner when combined with either Lr33 or LrT3 (228). In the Thatcher background, Lr34 is associated with increased resistance to stem rust (212, 228). Lr34 is closely linked with Ltn and Yr18.
Hexaploid stocks: others are listed in 212, 228 and 944. See 979 also.
Near-isogenic stocks: selections Jupeteco 73R (Lr17 Lr27 + Lr31) and Jupateco 73S (Lr17 Lr27 + Lr31) and Cocoraque 75 (Lr13 Lr17 Lr27 + Lr31) and Anhuac 75 (Lr13 Lr17 Lr27 + Lr31) can be considered near-isogenic for the presence and absence of Lr34, respectively (978). Thirteen Thatcher lines with 2-gene combinations are given in 302.
