Insensitivity is dominant.
One-gene (826) and two-gene (457, 807, 827) differences were reported in inheritance studies. In Chinese Spring/Hope substitution lines for chromosomes 1A, 4B and 6B, greater sensitivity to short photoperiod was found, whereas substitutions of 3B and 7D were less sensitive (335).
Two genes controlling photoperiod response were found in T. turgidum (570).
