Remarks
A combined AFLP and RFLP linkage map was constructed using 71 recombinant inbred lines from a cross between 'Kanota' and 'Ogle', placing additional markers on the existing Kanota by Ogle RFLP linkage map (See GrainGenes Map_Data 'Oat, KxO/QTL').
Linkage analysis using MAPMAKER 3.0 resulted in a map of 263 AFLP and 228 RFLP markers. Addition of the new AFLP markers increased the map size from 1402 to 2351 cM.
Addition of AFLP markers also joined original linkage groups from Map_Data 'Oat, KxO/QTL'. For example, Map Oat-KxO/AFLP-5-30 joins linkage groups 5 and 30. The other combined linkage groupsare 6 and 37, 24 and 26, and 25 and 32.
AFLP locus names indicate the primers used and the band scored, numbering the polymorphic bands upward from the smallest.
Loci with 'n' suffixes were associated with tolerance or sensitivity to BYDV in at least one pair of near-isogenic lines (NILs). See GrainGenes reference PHY-88-410, by Jin et al.
