Messmer MM et al. (1999) Genetic linkage map of a wheat x spelt cross. Theoretical and Applied Genetics 98:1163-1170.
Remarks
Oberkulmer, the spelt parent, has a high level of resistance to Septoria nodorum leaf and glume blotch and poor resistance to leaf rust and powdery mildew. Forno, the wheat parent, is highly susceptible to S. nodorum, but has shown 'durable resistance' to leaf rust and medium resistance to powdery mildew.
242 loci were mapped, using 176 polymorphic RFLP probes and 9 microsatellites, on a population of 204 F5 recombinant inbred lines. The resulting genetic map contains 230 marker loci spanning 2469 cM.
Segregation data were analyzed with MAPMAKER using the Haldane mapping function with an initial LOD threshold of 10.0. Markers and linkage groups that were still unlinked (> 20 cM) were joined by lowering the LOD threshold to 3.0 and testing all possible combinations.
