Abstract
The resistance of the oat varieties C.I. 4529, C.I. 5814, C.I. 6558, C.I. 6829, and C.I. 6849 to races 6F and 6AF of oat stem rust was conferred by a new recessive gene for resistance, designated as gene H. Gene H was inherited independently of gene A in Exeter and gene B in Rodney but it was either closely linked in repulsion or allelic to gene E in crosses involving Jostrain. In addition to gene H, C.I. 6819 carries gene D, and C.I. 6829 is heterogeneous for gene D.
