Abstract
The tolerance to soil aluminium ion toxicity is a complex phenomenon, determined by factors with different implications in its manifestation. The acid-heavy soils from Romania have a poor fertility and contain great quantities of aluminium ions which negatively influence the wheat plant growth and development. Under these conditions, the cultivation of genotypes tolerant to aluminium ion toxicity became a necessity in the achievement of economical yields. In this sense, the winter wheat lines obtained by wheat genotypes with agronomical valuable traits, well-adapted to pedoclimatic conditions of Albota and winter wheat genotypes very tolerant to aluminium ion toxicity, were tested in a field on two soil types (albic luvisoil and brown luvic soil). The winter wheat lines AAI 9, AAI 29, AAI 30, AAI 56, AAI 57, AAI 65 obtained very significant yield gains in comparison with the Albota control
