The first maternal inheritance of chlorina character in barley was reported by Robertson (1937). In the last 10 years, some 20 or more cases of maternal inheritance of chlorophyll mutations have been reported (see references for detail).

The maternal chlornphyll mutations so far confirmed in barley are listed in Table 1.
