Detailed analysis of telocentric chromosomes by Giemsa N-banding technique (Singh and Tsuchiya, 1982) showed that at least two of the present 10 telotrisomic stocks carry an extra telocentric chromosome with a deficiency. Also the identification and designation of barley chromosomes and all ten telocentric chromosomes were completed (Singh and Tsuchiya, 1982; Shahla and Tsuchiya, 1982). Some chromosome arms (telocentric chromosomes) were redesignated. The newly proposed system of identification and designation of telocentric chromosomes is shown in Table 1.

Some plants of Triplo 2S carry an extra chromosome 2S with a deficiency and many plants of Triplo 4L carry a telo 4L with a deficiency (Singh and Tsuchiya, 1982).

Recently, Furst and Tsuchiya (1983) found an apparently normal (complete) arm of the long arm of chromosome 4 (telo 4L). This chromosome is under investigation for its cytological and genetic structure.

Anyone who uses these two telotrisomic stocks should be aware of the fact that they carry the extra chromosome with a deficiency. The users of the telotrisomics should also be aware of changes in designation of some telocentric chromosomes (and telotrisomic lines).
