One locus for antigenic beer proteins (Antigen lb) was located on barley
chromosome 7 by using the Chinese Spring-Betzes barley chromosome addition
lines (Hejgaard, 1984). The erectoides gene in cultivar Golden Promise
(G.P, ert) which is not allelic to ert-a, ert-b, ert-c,
ert-g or ert-m, was assigned to the short arm of chromosome
7 by virtue of its linkage to the breakpoint in T3-7d. By conventional
linkage mapping it was found to be located between the loci for DDT reaction
and shorthaired rachilla Ss (Thomas et al., 1984). Telotrisomic
analysis with 7S of the chromosome 7 markers nld, f6 and
r, all gave disomic ratios in their respective F2 populations (Shahla
and Tsuchiya, 1984a), indicating that these loci must be located on the
long arm of that chromosome. A similar result was obtained with 1b
(Shahla and Tsuchiya, 1984b). The latest linkage map of barley chromosome
7 (Tsuchiya, 1984a) shows the centromere positioned on the linkage map
but no markers shown on the short arm. The DDT locus has tentatively been
removed from the linkage map because of insufficient information for its
location (Tsuchiya, 1984). An acrotrisomic stock 7S7L has been
identified and made available (Tsuchiya, 1984b).
