Inheritance:
Probably recessive to normal (14).
Weak signs of linkage to chromosome 3 (15).
The mutant ~i ne holds also a partially dominant gene for big grain (from lax-d ?) not linked to lax-m (14).
Description:
Spike internodes about 16% longer th.-&i normal.
Plants with light-green leaves, curly awns, some sterile florets and flat grain (13).
Origin of mutant:
1958 after soaked Bonus seed treated with ethyleneimine: 0.05% x 2 hours.
Mutational events: (3, 4)
lax-m65,-m8080.
Mutant used for description and seed stock:
lax-m80 in Bonus.
