II.13. Linkage of Bl and ms-v on chromosome 4.

G. D. Kushnak. Montana State University, Bozeman, Montana 59715, U.S.A.

A blue aleurone stock, Montcalm, and Betzes ms-v were used to estimate the recombination value between Bl and ms-v on chromosome 4. F2 data from the Betzes (ms-v ms-v bl bl B12 B12) x Montcalm (Ms-v Ms-v B1 B1 Bl2 Bl2) cross were obtained by sorting blue and white seeds from F1 plants, and planting each color in a separate plot. The number of male sterile and fertile plants in each plot are given in Table 1. A recombination value of 11.0 + 1.3% was estimated according to the maximum likelihood method (l).

Data from a Betzes ms-v x Hubamer cross, and from other linkage studies with Bl and Bl2 will be available at a later date.

Table 1. Observed frequencies of male sterile and fertile plants from blue and white seeds.
