There is relatively little new information to report for chromosome 6 since the last report. Wang and Tsuchiya (1989) have produced the ditelo tetrasomic for the short arm of chromosome 6. This line (obtained from Tsuchiya) has proven to be quite vigorous and fertile. Cannel et al. (1989) have confirmed earlier reports (Bohlmann et al., 1988; Kleinhoffs et al., 1988 and Wettstein-Knowles, 1989) of thionine precursor and alpha-amylase loci on the short and long arms of chromosome 6, respectively. At Guelph, we are continuing efforts to sort out the closely linked genes msg6, sex1, o, gs4, ant13 and uc2.
