There is little new information to report for wheat-barley genetic stocks
since the last report. Jauhar(1995) reported the production of F1 hybrids
between Chinese Spring and Fukuhokomugi wheats and winter barley cv.
Luther. The author reportedly observed high pairing (5.08-6.72
chiasmata/cell) in some F1 hybrids involving Fukuhokomugi wheat and he
ascribed this partly to wheat-barley homoeologous pairing. Although Jauhar
(1995) has not reported any chromosome mosaicism in meiotic cells, he has
observed other cytological abnormalities including anaphase bridge and
abnormal microspore tetrads as has been reported earlier by Islam et al
(1981) in other wheat-barley hybrid combinations.
