BGN 7: Coordinator's report: chromosome 7 BARLEY GENETICS NEWSLETTER, VOL. 7, IV. REPORTS FROM COORDINATORS

IV. 7. Coordinator's report: chromosome 7.

G. Fedak, Ottawa Research Station Central Experimental Farm, Ottawa, Ont. K1A QC6 Canada.

Based on a review of literature, the following changes are suggested for the genic content of the linkage group of chromosome 7. The glo-b1 and glo-b2 loci have proved to be allelic and located on chromosome 7. (Fischbeck and Haüser, 1976). Rahman and Eslick (1976) have shown that alb,,O is located on chromosome 7 and linked to msg 16 with an intensity of 26.1 + 5.8%.

The sex locus is also located on chromosome 7 (Scheuring and Ramage, 1976).

Based on trisomic analysis, Tsuchiya and Alanko (1976) have shown that yst 3 is not located on chromosome 7.

We are continuing to intercross stocks with chromosome 7 markers in an effort to produce multiple linkage stocks with which to establish a skeleton of a linkage map for that chromosome.

Thus far, no telos for chromosome 7 have been isolated or obtained.
