VII. 3. Recently established autotetraploid barley stocks.

W. Friedt and S. Züchner, Department of Plant Genetics of the Gesellschaft für Strahlen und Umweltforschung mbH., 8059 Grünbach, FRG.

The collection of autotetraploid barley stocks and their corresponding original diploid forms was grown under field conditions at Grünbach, Bavaria, in 1978 and different morphological characters have been recorded as in previous years (see BGN 1, 1971; BGN4, 1974; BGN 6, 1976; BGN 7, 1977; BGN 8, 1878). In addition to the stocks described before, new autotetraploids of the barley varieties and stocks listed in Table 1 have been induced. At the present time limited amount of seed of all of the autotetraploid stocks and diploid progenitors are available. It is planned to multiply the described stocks in 1979 and to store a bigger sample each in the German Genebank at Braunschweig-Völkenrode.

Table 1: List of recently established autotetraploid barley stocks as compared to their diploid progenitors and to the 25-year-old tetraploid stock "Haisa II", grown at Grünbach, Bavaria, in 1978.
